Waterproofing has a history dated Treta yuga it has evolved a long way earlier people used to cover roof with broad leaves and small leaves to cover gaps. This was followed by tached roof covered with dry leaves. The life used to be less and replacement or repairs used to be endless. Mostly people had learned to live with leaks. Then slowly they started using mud patches over tached roofs and then came roof with mud and lime mortar over stone slabs followed by lime mortar roofs alone and lime mortar over cemented roof, followed by treatment of black or locally available soil over lime roofs, followed by chemical waterproofing.

There is no rhyme or reason for selecting products depending on depth of pocket size proximity to promoter, and who ever satisfies ego products are being used. This is happening in most of the case.
